HCMH Foundation to open hospital gift shop.
“Don’t you have a gift shop?”
That’s a question heard frequently from people visiting patients at HCMH. Starting early this summer, the answer will be clear from the moment people walk through the hospital’s Atrium entrance.
For the past three years, a sub-committee of the HCMH Foundation has been raising funds and making plans for a cheerful gift shop, located in a small conference room in the Atrium. The Gift Shop Committee members are Stephanie Broshar, Esther Higdon, Tammy Missman and Andrea Wilson.
The gift shop’s mission statement is, “The more you shop, the more we give,” which reflects the intent of the shop to eventually use proceeds to support hospital projects through the HCMH Foundation.
“We really want to provide a service to hospital patients and their visitors and offer convenience for our hospital staff,” explains Esther. “We’ve held several open houses and lobby sales to earn funds for this project and the community and staff have supported us so well.”
In addition to traditional gift shop merchandise such as greeting cards, gifts and convenience items for patients, the store will offer jewelry and home accessories, with hopes of adding inventory based on suggestions from customers.
The committee has recruited a group of volunteers that are eager and willing to staff the store, which hopes to open in June. Initially, hours may be limited, but will grow into both weekday and weekend shifts.
